Peter Bydlinski's commitment to teaching is reflected not least in several textbooks, which he has been editing again and again for decades. His research interests are broad and range from methodological issues to special aspects of European and German private law, including corporate and company law. The KBB commentary on the ABGB, which he has co-edited since the 1st edition, is very popular among academics and practitioners (currently 7th edition 2023). In recent years, Peter Bydlinski has also been working on (above all) linguistic improvements and making the ABGB easier to understand. To date (as of April 2024), he has edited almost 1000 paragraphs.

He has been working at the Institute since October 1999 and will retire on September 30, 2025 as an emeritus professor.
