Mag. Dr. Sebastian Schwamberger, LL.M.

Sebastian Schwamberger has held the tenure-track professorship for Private Law and Digitalisation since October 2025. Previously, he was a university assistant ("prae-doc") at the Institute for Civil Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna (Chair of Prof. Dr. Christiane Wendehorst), project collaborator ("post-doc") in the Fritz Thyssen Foundation-funded project "The ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy" and consultant to the European Law Institute and from 2022 to 2025 holder of the W1 professorship for Civil Law, Business Law and the Law of Digitalisation at the University of Rostock.

In his research, Sebastian Schwamberger focuses in particular on the legal challenges posed by data, artificial intelligence and platforms. He is currently writing his habilitation thesis with the working title "Datenzugang und Datennutzung im Zivilrecht".
