Review IPR Workshop

As part of the 4th IPR workshop, current issues of private international law and civil procedure law were lively discussed with participants from academia and practice at the University of Graz on 26 and 27 June 2025.

4th IPR Workshop 2025

To begin with, Prof Burkhard Hess (University of Vienna) dealt with cross-border collective actions and Prof Bea Verschraegen (em. University of Vienna) with the natural person in IPR. The subsequent lecture by Prof. Sören Segger-Piening (University of Osnabrück) and the open discussion round focussed on the basic structures of European IPR and their changes. Finally, after the lunch break, Ass.-Prof. Barbara Egglmeier-Schmolke (University of Salzburg) dealt with the consumer concept of Art 6 Rome I Regulation using the example of the consuming, dependent employee and Ass.-Prof. Martin Lutschounig (University of Innsbruck) with the international private law classification of damage estimation in international traffic accidents.

Many thanks to all speakers and participants for their participation and the exciting discussions!

We are already looking forward to the 5th IPR Workshop, which will (probably) take place on 26 June 2026 at the University of Innsbruck.
