Ass.-Prof.in MMag.a Dr.in iur. Martina Melcher
Martina Melcher is an assistant professor at the Institute. In her current research, she deals with unilateral contract amendments in consumer contracts, such as price changes in telecommunications, electricity and insurance contracts, and thus combines highly relevant practical issues (including electricity price increases in the energy crisis) with basic research.
She is also particularly interested in the interdependence and interaction of Austrian civil law with foreign legal systems and the diverse influences of European Union law. Teaching these aspects is also a major concern of hers. Together with Brigitta Lurger, she has written a textbook and a handbook on private international law as well as a handbook on European private and commercial law, which should make it easier for students and practitioners to get started and deal with these topics.
Her interest in international law can also be seen in her "stations abroad", from her Erasmus year at Sciences Po, Paris, to her M.Law studies at the University of Oxford, to shorter research stays, including at the MPI Hamburg and the EUI Florence.
