Professor Martina Melcher, MMag.a, Dr., MJur (Oxon)

Martina Melcher has been a professor at the Institute for Civil Law, Foreign and International Private Law since 1 October 2026. 

Her research focuses on (consumer) contract law, private international law and civil procedure law, the law governing the German-Austrian-Swiss region (e.g. energy and telecommunications law) and family law. Her particular research interest – within these areas and beyond – lies in the interconnection and interaction between Austrian civil law and foreign legal systems, as well as the diverse influences of EU law. Practical issues are combined with fundamental research, such as in the case of unilateral price changes in energy law and the determination of a child’s parentage in an international context.
