o.Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in iur. Monika Hinteregger
o.Univ.-Prof.in Dr.in Monika Hinteregger has been teaching as a full university professor at the Department for Civil Law, Foreign Law and Private International Law at the University of Graz since 1996. In her academic work, she mainly deals with questions of liability law, property law and family law. In addition to her work at the University of Graz, she has held a number of visiting professorships at foreign universities (WS 1995/96, WS 2002/03, WS 2003/04 and WS 2008/09: Law School of Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey, USA; WS 2001/02: Asia-Europe-Institute of the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; SS 2004, SS 2006: Università degli Studi di Foggia, Italy). From 2019-2022 she was a member of INLEX (International Expert Group on Nuclear Liability) of the IAEA. She is a member of the board of the Austrian Jurists' Day and the European Center of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL) as well as Vice Director of the Institute for European Tort Law (ESR/ETL).
At the University of Graz, she has held a number of academic positions in the past: Chair of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Law of the University of Graz (2000 to 2003); Chair of the Senate of the University of Graz (2003 to 2013); Head of the Institute for Civil Law, Foreign and Private International Law (2009 to 2013 and 2015-2017); Head of the doctoral program “European Private Law” (2013-2022).
She currently holds the following positions at the University of Graz: Head of the Institute for Civil Law, Foreign and International Private Law; Head of the Center for European Private Law at the Faculty of Law (since 2013) and Chair of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Law (since 2022). Since 2017, she has also been the academic director of the university courses Insurance Business and MBA Insurance at the University of Graz.
